Since 1975, in the heart of Charente, EFF-Piquets has been cultivating and expanding a genuine expertise in forestry and has been especially dedicated to the manufacture of wooden stakes and ganivelles in chestnut and acacia.
Joël FOUILLET begins an artisanal production of hand-split stakes with a wedge and a maul.
A workshop is arranged for splitting, pointing and debarking the wood. The machines are still artisanal. Annual production of stakes is under 100,000 units.
Creation of the SARL “Exploitation Forestière Joël Fouillet”, a small saw-mill with 3 employees and an annual production of 250,000 stakes. The company begins to export its stakes to Europe.
Start of ganivelle (wooden trellis) production with 10 km per year. Membership in the PEFC sustainable-forest system.
Company acquisition by Thierry GIFFARD.

After 45 years of experience, the forestry and wood-processing structure of chestnut and acacia continues to develop — in order to optimise production and guarantee the quality of its products, all while respecting people and the environment. The company now exports about 30% of its turnover.
Currently, we produce 700,000 stakes and 50 km of ganivelle per year.

In 2022, our company had the pleasure of hosting the team from the TV show “La Sphère Eco” on France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine, as part of a report on the wood-industry in the region. It was an opportunity to present our production facility, our “made in Charente” product range, our principal markets and our ambitions for the future!

On the occasion of the 2021 edition, our company was selected to compete for the sustainable-development award, reflecting our environmental commitment. Our local-circuit methods, PEFC certification and positive carbon-balance convinced the jury to honour us — whether we “won” the star or not, it is for the whole team a source of pride and an incentive to continue our efforts.
